Shadow Puppets Workshop
Jets Creative Arts Youth Facility, July 2012

In July 2012, Sunday Morning Designs continued their workshop series with the wonderful group of teenagers at Jets Creative Arts Youth Facility, Banyule Council.

This workshop comprised of shadow puppet making followed by a performance, the exciting and scary performance continued the "Haunted House" theme we have been working on previously.

We watched a slideshow of traditional Indonesian shadow puppets and the fantastic animated shadow puppet fairy tale film by Lotte Reiniger from 1926; "The Adventures of Prince Achmed".

We then got to work on drawing and cutting out our creations. The students came up with their own characters and then improvised a storyline and narrated the performance, the resulting show was riveting -suspenseful, moving and hilarious!! They all really enjoyed the process and were very proud of the outcome.
